The Downton Mile
Are you a big Downton Abbey fan? Do you fancy wandering the streets of Downton Village?
A local walk called “The Downton Mile” lets you walk in the footsteps of your favourite characters, and explore Bampton and the most significant buildings and streets used for filming. The walk has been designed to raise money to help pay for the restoration and upkeep of Bamptons Old Grammar School, used as the Cottage Hospital in filming. Fleur de Lys are actively supporting this great cause as our chosen charity, please help us and the local community by purchasing a ‘Downton Mile Map’ available in the bar for a £1 donation. Our goal is to reach a mile of £1 coins.

West Ox Arts is a not-for-profit organisation with the object of promoting knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts in West Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties from the village of Bampton.

Blenheim Palace
Built in the early 18th century, this stately home is one of Britain’s grandest historical estates. It was gifted by Queen Anne to the Duke of Marlborough, General John Churchill, for his role in defeating the French at the 1704 Battle of Blenheim, and Britain’s beloved wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill was born here in 1874.

The Wood Brothers distillery is nestled in a corner of the family farm which is at the heart of how they produce their spirits. They harvest wheat, barley and rye which forms the basis of their vodka gin and our soon to be launched whisky. Offering a range of experiences from Distillery Tours to their Supper by the Still it’s a great addition to your stay.
